Dr Bugenyi is a veterinarian and researcher working with the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) in Uganda. His research interest is in understanding transmission dynamics of economically important pathogens in domestic and wild suids at the wildlife- livestock interface within the Albertine Rift Region. His close interaction with swine farmers, especially in western Uganda is key to developing solutions tailored to the challenges and needs faced in the region. In addition to raising attention to economically important swine pathogens, his work aims to guide the design and development of strategies aimed at diminishing disease burden in the piggery sector.
